lake words vol ii is ready

the lake words team has some exciting news to share–

lake words vol ii is nearly ready for you!

for over a year now, we have been working and dreaming this sequel. in march 2022, we put out the call for submissions, and you all came through: we received a swell of incredible work, from photography to sculpture to poetry to visionary fiction about this valley we call home.

the contributors to lake words volume ii see what lies in front of us with eyes unclouded by delusion. they recognize the false simplicity in the available mainstream channels for action. they remind us that when there is a body dying in our proximity, options abound. will we wade into the salty stench, or shamefully look away? will we scream or plot revenge? will we scheme a bathroom brine fly hatchery? dance on demolished dams?

this book is a queer, abolitionist love letter to the great salt lake. it’s a balm for the bullshit going on in the legislature. it’s an offering for anyone who has ever wondered what might happen if the lake dries up. it’s a calling to imagine something different, a spell for radical return to relationship.

and, in the spirit of relationship, we’d love to invite you to our launch party.
